Error codes · Samsung · Washer-dryer combos

Samsung washer-dryer combo error codes: a washer's codes, plus the heat pump's.

The Bespoke AI combo is a front-load washer and a heat-pump dryer in one drum, so its codes read like a Samsung washer's — water in, water out, the door, the balance — with a few more for the drying side. No vent means no airflow code; the dry side's trouble is the condenser filter behind the lower panel, the drain and the room's air. Find the code, work the checks, clear it with the reset.

Covers: Bespoke AI Laundry Combo all-in-one ventless washer-dryers (WD53DBA900, WD53DBA900H, and the 2024-and-newer WD5xDB combos).

Samsung · First

Before you clear it

Samsung prints a letter-and-number code (4C, dC, HE). Older displays printed the same faults with an E (4E, dE, HE) — the pages list both.

1

The same fault has two spellings — the combo prints the C form (4C, 5C, dC); older Samsung displays printed an E (4E, 5E, dE). Both are listed.

2

The reset: Power off, unplug (or the breaker off) for one full minute, plug back in and run a Rinse + Spin. A code that comes straight back is real.

3

Two filters: the lint filter in the door rim after every dry, and the condenser / pump filter behind the lower front panel on the manual's schedule. Most dry-side codes start there.

4

The plate decides the plug — this combo is 120V on some models and 240V on others; a 240V combo follows the dryer's cord and terminal-block rules.

5

The SmartThings app shows the same code, its meaning and the next step under the machine's tile; the model and serial plate is inside the door rim.

Code

No water coming in

What it means

The fill never raised the water level in time. The water is not reaching the valve.

Check first
  1. Both taps behind the machine are fully open, hot and cold.
  2. The fill hoses are not kinked and the inlet mesh screens are clean.
  3. The hoses are on the right inlets — hot to hot, cold to cold.
The fix

Open the taps all the way, clean the screens, straighten the hoses, reset and run a Rinse + Spin. With everything open and clean, the inlet valve is the part.

Will not drain

What it means

The pump ran and the level did not drop. On a combo the drain also carries the dry cycle's condensate, so this shows as a long or failed dry too.

Check first
  1. The drain hose is not kinked and sits only 4–6 inches into the standpipe — pushed to the bottom it siphons.
  2. The pump filter behind the lower panel is clean (a coin, a sock, a hair tie).
  3. The standpipe takes a bucket of water without backing up.
The fix

Clean the pump filter, set the hose, clear the house drain, reset and run a Spin. A pump that hums with a clean filter and moves nothing is the pump.

Code

Water where it should not be

What it means

The leak sensor in the base saw water, or the level dropped during the cycle.

Check first
  1. The drain hose is hooked in the standpipe with an air gap, not sealed or pushed to the bottom.
  2. Both fill hoses and their washers are dry at the machine and the wall.
  3. Too much or the wrong detergent — a suds overflow reads as a leak; HE detergent, the manual's amount.
The fix

Fix the hose or the detergent, dry the base (tip the machine back carefully or wait a day), reset. Water in the base with every hose dry is an internal leak — a warranty call.

Stop & call

Water in the base with every hose and the drain dry is an internal hose or the tub seal — a warranty call with the model and serial.

Sud#4

Code

Too many suds

What it means

Foam filled the drum and the control is pausing to let it settle before it drains.

Check first
  1. HE detergent only, and no more than the manual's amount — the combo uses little water.
  2. The pump filter is clean, so the suds can drain.
The fix

Let the cycle finish; run a Rinse + Spin empty, then use less detergent. It clears itself.

Door not closed or locked

What it means

The latch did not report closed, or the lock did not engage.

Check first
  1. The door is pushed firmly shut with nothing caught in the gasket fold.
  2. The latch and the strike are clean; the gasket is not folded over.
The fix

Close it firmly and restart. A door that is shut and still reports open is the latch switch or the lock — a part.

Stop & call

A door that is firmly shut and clean and still reports open is the lock assembly — a warranty call.

Unbalanced load

What it means

The drum could not balance the load for the spin and gave up.

Check first
  1. Every shipping bolt is out of the back of the machine.
  2. The feet are set and locked so the cabinet does not rock; a pedestal is bolted.
  3. One heavy item alone (a mat, a comforter) — add two towels.
The fix

Remove the bolts, level and lock the feet, balance the load, and run the calibration (Cb) after any move. Unbalance that stays on a level, balanced machine is the suspension — a warranty call.

Cb#7
Fix at home
Code

Calibration mode

What it means

Not a fault: the combo is in its calibration run, which learns the empty drum after a move.

Check first
  1. The drum is empty and the door is closed; press Start and let it run about three minutes.
The fix

Nothing to fix — it stops by itself and returns to the normal display.

Section 3 of 3

The drying side

A heat-pump dryer has no vent and no airflow code — its trouble is the filters, the drain and the room's air.

Overheat on the drying side

What it means

The dry side climbed past its sensor's limit — the heat pump's air is blocked.

Check first
  1. The lint filter in the door rim is clean.
  2. The condenser / pump filter behind the lower panel is clean — the number-one combo call.
  3. The grilles have the manual's clearance and the room is under the ambient limit (a hot closet or garage).
The fix

Clean both filters, give it air, reset, and run a dry on half a load. A code that returns with clean filters in a cool room is the thermistor or the compressor circuit — a warranty call.

Stop & call

An overheat that returns with both filters clean, the grilles clear and the room cool is the drying side's sensor or compressor — a warranty call with the model and serial.

Code

Temperature sensor fault

What it means

A thermistor on the wash or the dry side read open or shorted.

Check first
  1. The reset: unplug one minute, then a short dry on half a load.
  2. The filters are clean (a sensor packed in lint reads wrong).
The fix

Clean the filters and reset. A sensor code that stays is the thermistor — a part under warranty.

Stop & call

A tC that returns after the reset with clean filters is the thermistor or its wiring — a warranty call with the model and serial.

Board-to-board communication

What it means

The main board and the sub board lost contact — the control itself, not the install.

Check first
  1. The reset: unplug one full minute, plug back in.
  2. The plug is firm in a dedicated outlet of the plate's voltage, not an extension cord or a shared circuit.
The fix

Reset once. A code that comes back is a board or its harness — a warranty call.

Stop & call

An AC that returns after one full reset on a correct, dedicated circuit is a control board — a warranty call with the model and serial.

PF#11
Fix at home
Code

Power failure during the cycle

What it means

The power dropped mid-cycle; the control remembers and tells you.

Check first
  1. A 240V combo on the dryer's 30-amp circuit with the cord's three connections tight; a 120V combo on its own outlet, not shared with a freezer or a heater.
  2. The breaker and any GFCI are reset.
The fix

Restart the cycle. A PF on a dedicated, correct circuit with tight connections that repeats is the board.

When it's a warranty call

Every unit leaves with the manufacturer's full factory warranty. The codes below name a part inside the machine — once the checks have ruled out the install, the power and the hoses, call Samsung's line with the model and serial, and text us if you want a hand with the claim.

All units are surplus inventory (open box, cancelled order, customer return, overstock, or minor scratch & dent). Every unit includes the manufacturer's full factory warranty. Please inspect thoroughly in person before purchasing — cosmetic imperfections or missing accessories are possible.

Still stuck?

Text us the model number and what it's doing — we'll point you at the next step.

A fix, a part, or a warranty call — the plate's model and serial plus one line about the symptom is all it takes to tell which.

These pages are educational. Every appliance is a little different — follow the manufacturer's manual and local code, and leave gas, water heater and 240V work to a licensed installer.
